Sweden offers a high-quality education system in 2026 that supports academic success and a long-term career in Sweden. Education is compulsory from the age of six and includes a mandatory preschool class followed by nine years of compulsory schooling. Upper secondary schools offer both academic and vocational programs that prepare students for higher education and employment.

For those planning to study in Sweden, universities follow the Bologna Process and provide internationally recognized bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. Swedish, EU/EEA and Swiss students continue to benefit from tuition-free higher education, while eligible students can access government financial aid. With a strong focus on innovation, research, digital learning and industry collaboration, Sweden remains an attractive destination for international students seeking quality education and future career opportunities.
